    Interior designers in Pakistan

We analyze common mistakes of interior designers with comments from the pros.

Luxurious finishes and expensive art objects will not bring comfort to the house if the design is poorly thought out and the repairs are incorrectly carried out. Let’s talk about the most common mistakes made by interior designers in Lahore and how to deal with them.

    Unaccounted for Scale and Proportion

A high chair next to a low coffee table can look awkward, and a small engraving can get lost in the middle of a 3-meter wall. All objects in the room must be proportional to each other and the total area in size, height, and shape; otherwise, the interior will look untidy.

Tip: Balance a large object with visually light accessories to avoid the effect of a crowded space.

    Form Without Function

In search of a wow effect, inexperienced designers often get carried away with the external aesthetics of objects, pushing functionality into the background. But in fantastic design, both are important. This is especially true when decorating small spaces, where every meter is valuable. Remember that this is primarily a residential building, not a museum.

In small apartments, the factor of the functionality of the furniture is of particular importance.

    Inadequate Heat and Sound Insulation

The materials or their installation may be harmful. Unfortunately, these flaws are invisible under the final finish. The consequences are felt gradually: the house becomes uncomfortable, sound and heat protection decreases, the quality of air, sleep and, as a result, health deteriorates. That is why you need to worry about competent heat and sound insulation work at the initial stage of repair.

Necessary: The latest soundproofing and heat-insulating systems, in addition to their essential functions, protect the house from fires, withstanding temperatures above 1000 ° C.

    Low Lighting

Insufficient light is one of the common mistakes in interior design and the uncomfortable atmosphere in the house.

Experienced pros, first of all, make the most of natural light: they take into account the location of the mirrors, glazing, and the palette. A good lighting scenario contains at least three types of light: general ( chandeliers, spots ), local ( table lamps, floor lamp ), and accent ( illuminating paintings, sconces, candles).

Tip: Place living rooms and dining rooms as close to the sunniest areas in the house as possible.

    Boring Palette

A neutral background and monochrome colors in the interior are a convenient solution for those who are afraid to overdo it with color and are not ready to experiment. But without the right touches and combinations, the atmosphere can turn out to be boring and monotonous.

It is pretty enough to accentuate one of the walls with the help of contrasting wallpaper, murals, or a spectacular picture. Play with different shades of the same color for a change.

Tip: Liven up monochrome finishes with different textures and materials, houseplants, or photo compositions.

    Busting with Interior Decoration

There is a gray laminate on the floor, terracotta linoleum in the hallway, and granite tiles in the living room? Such a mishmash in decoration is likely to be a losing one. Likewise, excessive layering in wall decoration is also unacceptable. This will reduce the degree of comfort and “eat up” the usable area.

Advice: do not use finishing materials from different shades and types of wood in the same room.

    Incorrect Window Decoration

Too long, short, or incorrectly placed curtains are typical mistakes in apartment interior design.

Many beginner designers like to attach curtains directly above the window frame, which visually reduces the size of the windows, the movement of the structures, and the flow of daylight. To make the room look taller, curtains and cornices are mounted to the ceiling. If the curtain is just below the ceiling and is floor-length, the windows will appear visually larger.

    Abundance of Prints

A cheerful ornament and original patterns on wallpaper, textiles, or paintings brighten up the interior. But when there are too many of them, it starts to ripple in the eyes, and the house turns into a solid patchwork. So even if your ideas are bold, boo, and eclectic, you need to think in advance about harmonious combinations of prints and shades using a mood board.

Tip: to avoid excessive variegation, use different ornaments in identical shades, or vice versa, the same designs in different colors.

    Incorrect Art Placement

Finding the perfect piece of art is half the battle. It is equally important to place it correctly. This is where misfires happen: now too high, currently too low. The primary reference points are the level of the eyes and the proportions of the rest of the interior details with which art should be combined. The best way to avoid mistakes is to trace the outline of the baguette on paper, cut it out and “try on” it on the wall.

Tip: if there are several paintings, leave at least 10 cm between them. In this article, you will learn how to choose photographs for the interior, and in this article, how to hang them correctly.

    Lack of Storage Space

Carried away by minimalism and getting rid of all that is superfluous in the interior, designers sometimes leave enough space to store things. Therefore, even at the planning stage, discuss a convenient and spacious storage system with the designer. Determine the approximate number of things to hide and which ones to showcase.

    Object Chaos

Many designers adore eclecticism and fusion for a wide field for experimentation. But despite the apparent freedom, these styles also have boundaries and rules. Not all heirlooms and vintage items are worth showing. Instead, an assortment of items from different eras and trends quickly turns the interior into a museum or a flea market.

    Inconvenient Furnishings

If you constantly bump into pieces of furniture and literally squeeze between them, they are placed incorrectly. The primary task when furnishing is to maintain spaciousness and unimpeded movement in space.  When planning your interior, start at the entry point into the room and find the easiest path to it or to the next entrance.

Tip: If the room seems cramped, rearrange or remove unnecessary pieces of furniture.

    Lack of Focus

A well-designed room starts with focus – an immediately visible detail (fireplace, painting, TV)She is sometimes forgotten. She attracts attention, emphasizes the room’s purpose, and organizes other large objects in the interior design Tahir’s architect in Pakistan.

Important: in large spaces, it is permissible to have several focal points.

The Carpet is Out of Size.

Among the common mistakes in interior design is the disproportion of the carpet, which introduces a general imbalance in the space. The right rug in the living room reaches up to the front legs of the upholstered furniture or interferes with it all. It is desirable that the table and all the chairs fit on the carpet in the dining room and in the extended state. The rug should protrude at least 50-60cm from under the edges of the bed.

    Chasing Trends

For the sake of fashion, you can forget about the main thing in the interior – its individuality, reflecting the character and inner world of the owners of the house. The abundance of expensive fashionable art objects looks cool only at first glance. In fact, this is a clear indicator of blind copying and horrible taste.

Advice: put a piece of your soul and emotions into the interior with the help of personal details (a photo panel with family photos, an old grandmother’s chair, a picture from the Rabat that you liked).
